Live Music with Jazz Pianist Leyannes Valdes Monday to Saturday 6.30 onwards

Daughter of Chucho Valdes 7 times Grammy award winner jazz pianist, credited to being one of the foremost exponents of Afro-Cuban jazz, successfully integrating the Afro-Cuban rhythms and styles with modern jazz elements.
At age of 4 her father started giving her piano lessons at age of 7 she began to study classical music at the prestigious Conservatory of Havana.
During her career as Jazz pianist she played at all major jazz festivals in Europe, North & Latin America.One of her greatest concerts was in 2003, in Spain when she was able to play together with her Father Chucho Valdes and Grand father Bebo Valds. He just turned 89, lives in Stockholm and is also a Grammy award recipient.
The concert at the Grand Old House with Cucho Valdes in 2009 was very sentimental and brought a lot of memories back for her.
Leyannes loves to create a musical dialogue that ushered in an era marked by the fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms and European-derived Cuban Classical tunes.
In her career she plaid with Jane Bunnett, Daniela Piovani, Carlos del Puerto, Cesar Lopez, Miguel Anga Diaz, Lucas Marenzio and the legendary jazz band -Irakere- as their first female member.
She is performing from Monday to Saturday at the Grand Old House and on Thursday during Sunset Jazz she is accompanied by some of the most talented saxophone player’s Cayman has to offer.
