Blissful Cocktails: Embrace the Summer with Every Sip

Gin and Tonic:

Gin and Tonic rule the hearts of many! It’s premium, well-balanced, and nothing short of refreshing. The origins of this booze go back to the 18th Century when British commandos stationed in the holy land of India and gave Quinine blended with Gin as an antidote to Malaria.

Soon after, it gained popularity and became a staple cocktail in bars and homes of diverse parts of the world. Cocktail aficionados thoroughly enjoyed it because of its versatility, simplicity, and revitalizing essence.
Typically, 1.5 to 2 ounces of Gin are blended with tonic water and squeezed lime juice. It is served in a highball glass and garnished with lime wedges, cucumber, or other botanical elements.

The UK, Spain, India, South Africa, Australia, and numerous fine dining restaurants in Cayman serve this cocktail, especially during scorching months, social gatherings, and corporate events.

Margarita:

Sweet, sour, and salty — Margarita is the only cocktail that satiates the taste buds and senses of almost everyone around the globe. This intoxicating potion is believed to have debuted during the early to mid-20th century in vivacious México.

Rumors have it that Margarita was intermixed by a bartender named Carlos "Danny" Herrera in 1938 at his Tijuana-based restaurant, Rancho La Gloria. Within a short span, this tipple grabbed the attention of many novices as well as frequent drinkers and climbed to the top of the wall of fame.

Today, it is a significant part of various regions such as the UK, California, Texas, Florida, and Grand Cayman seafood restaurants. This masterpiece is made with love, 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, 1 oz of triple sec or orange juice, and a handful of ice.

Sangria:

Hola Amigos!

Did you know that everyone’s cherished Sangria has its roots in Spain, the neighboring country of Mexico, where the iconic Margarita was born? Isn’t it fascinating how these flavorful poisons hail from the same region, reflecting the rich tapestry of cocktail culture?

The word “Sangre” means blood in Spanish, highlighting the deep red color of the traditional version made with red wine.

Sangria is relished in beach parties, charity galas, and community events from Portugal to Latin American countries. Much like lively fiestas, this drink can be accompanied on a laid-back evening with your friends or partner and paired with dishes like Cayman-style seafood ceviche, which is also renowned as the best dinner in Grand Cayman

Piña Colada:

This epitome of perfection was born in the lap of Puerto Rico in the 1950s by Ramón "Monchito" Marrero — A bartender at the Caribe Hilton hotel in San Juan. Since its creation, this drink has been a ‘Crazy Hit’ among the Caribbeans.

Apart from being offered in Puerto Rico, Colombia, Jamaica, and Bahamas, and the best dining spots in Cayman, Piña Colada has become the most preferred choice in countries with warm climates and waterfront resorts as it is ideal to lounge by the pool or beach.

Do you know what is the most interesting characteristic of this alcoholic drink? The combination of creamy coconut, tangy pineapple, and smooth rum oozes out sweet and tart flavors which are refreshing and satiating alike.

Its recipe calls for white rum, coconut cream or milk, pineapple juice, lime juice, and fresh exotic fruit which is infused to perfection and poured into a chilled glass. It is garnished with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry to transport you to paradise with every sip.

Frosé:

Frosé represents a playful meaning, which literally translates to frozen rosé, featuring a fruity and sweet flavor profile. In 2016, this cocktail met the eyes of cocktail enthusiasts in New York and Los Angeles for its creative spin of frozen on standard cocktails.

Over the years, it became a beloved summertime punch in coastal cities and vacation spots worldwide. It’s not only cool but also Instagram-worthy, flaunting the pink hues and frosty appearance.

The making of this cocktail requires rosé wine, strawberries, some other fruits, lemon juice, and sweeteners like simple syrup or agave nectar. This remarkable cocktail is frozen until it forms a slushy consistency and topped with fresh fruits or herbs, elevating aesthetic appeal and rejuvenating flavors.
